Parking light housing keeps cracking.. leaking..
The parking light housings keeps cracking on my 99 TA and it allows water to be retained, causing the lights to burn out. I have replaced the housing already. Has this happened to anyone else? Know a quick fix? I have tried silicone with no luck. Also what is the cheapest place to buy the housing (if only option). The cheapest I found was 30 shipped. Thanks guys

The BEST way to stop this, is buy new lenses, and use LED replacement bulbs (Available at Truck Stops...) The DRL's in these cars, utilize the Turn Filament in the PL assy, The Brightest one in the 2 filament bulb, thus creating Extreme Heat in this Tiny Light housing...Then you run thru a water puddle, or car wash... CRACK!!!.
The LED's are WAY cooler in terms of operating temperature. As far as the "Fast Flash" issue u may incur, Get a variable load flasher.Last edited by FORD RECOVERY EXPERT; 06-17-2009 at 06:56 PM.

Makes sense... especially because they are always on. So the LED lights will fit into the stock sockets? or do I have to splice them into the existing wires? any links to the sites? Are the LED lights just as bright? On my Bike the LED turn signals are bright at night but hardly visible during a sunny day

I had the same problem minus the cracking. My bulb socket rusted to shit. i cut the old one out and put in a new one with weather-tite connectors in case the problem came back. i also drilled an 1/8" hole in the bottom of both housings so that the water that did get in there could drip out. it worked mint and no problems since then

i had the same prob. with my 98. The filiment bulbs were actually blistering the inside of my housing and cracked mine also. I just ordered some on ebay like 5 min. ago and im planning to replace them with some LEDs. Theres no way im would put them hot @$$ bulbs into my brand new 30$ light housing. ill let you know how it comes out. Never thought of getting lights from a truck stop. good idea
