    P0131 Question

    Hello All,

I am looking at purchasing a T/A WS6 on Tuesday. I do know that the it has popped the P0131 message around 4 times over the last 6 months. Generally this happens after the car has been sitting for a will and goes away once warmed up, so says the owner.
My Experience with this Error code on the V6 Firebirds is as follows:

    1. EGR
    2. MAF
    3. O2 sensor
    4. After Market Muffler

How do these items translate to the LS1?

I kept on getting P0131 after driving a bit, and them sitting at idle. Come to find out, I had a crack in the front part of the cat's weld. I would add taking a serious look at the exhaust for leaks, in addition to normal diagnostics.

Later model Trans Ams - such as '01 and '02 are not equipped with an EGR valve. Let us know what you find.

WhamHammer, I will look into the exhaust as well. I know that it has at least an after Market Muffler, maybe more.

WOW, I had no clue of this, and now it brings up more questions then answers. So most 01/02 Birds, got the LS6 intake, which is why there is no EGR. There are Many posts out there suggesting that the some vehicles got the LS6 block too. Any clue how to determine this? That is what I am looking up now.

EDIT - Found the Info. Thanks again.

I wouldnt worry about an LS6 block, it makes no real difference to the car at all. Just find one that you like in the best shape possible.

There is a casting number on the back of the block just beneath the driver side head. You need a mirror and a flashlight to see it.
