    Overhaul LT1 or drop in Ls1/Ls2 ?

I have a 95 Z and It just turned 110 I am debating over overhauling the LT1 with some internal mods or dropping in a Ls1 or LS2. $$ is an issue, which would be more cost effective? I am a regular back-yard mechanic so I don't have any fancy equipment. Should I overhaul the LT1? Plus how hard is it to swap in a Ls1 vs Ls2? Any pointers?

I'd just build the LT1. Would be cheaper I think. Go stroker rebuild.
LS1/LS2 swap is possible, but you'd have to replace lots of stuff, like mounts, wiring, etc.

Just reading your delima (sp). I have a high mileage 96 Impala SS and an considering swapping in an LS1. Found a place that has done well over a 100 swaps. I don't know where you live, but you might find a local shop that has success doing a swap. I like the LS1, lighter, no optispark. The guys that told me about their work had the results of their work to show. In something like this, I don't DIY.
Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck. My LT1 has over 240K.

Don't buy a new block. My shop (Davestotalperformance) did a little demonstration by picking up a 6.0L (truck block I think) at a junk yard for about $500 and w/ an overhaul on that is Camaro is running 10s =) I wouldn't stick with the Lt1...
