One thing after another: Exhaust weld broken

I had a squeaking sound under the back of the car. I reasoned that it was the exhaust hangers because the squeak would happen both in motion and when just idling. I could get out of the car and jounce the rear and it would squeak. Like a mouse.

Anyway, this morning I got under there to spray some lube on the hangers and noticed that the piping going into the muffler seems to have a broken weld on it (there is a hole in the pipe as the part that is welded on has sort of pealed away from the pipe).

I'm a little worried that the weld will break off completely and I'll be dragging my muffler around under the car (though, the hangers might still hold it up just fine, but one of the rubber pieces has begun to tear).

Anyway, I'm looking for a temporary quick fix until I can get a new cat-back. If I do it myself, it will have to be without removing the muffler.

Does it make sense to use an epoxy like JB Weld or some such to seal up the hole? Or should I use something else?

As for the squeak, it seems I was right about it being the exhaust hangers. After I lubed them, the squeak went bye-bye.

the jb weld will seal the hole but it really won't offer a ton of support. It won't hurt. What about a band clamp around it? Enough pipe on either side to put a band clamp to where it'll help support the weak area?

Hmm... maybe so. I'll have to look at it again. I only saw it while I was lying on the ground without even jacking up the car.

Wire coat hangers will fix almost anything.
