oil pressure went haywire .
i have 151,00 miles . i pulled down off the highway today and my oil pressure dropped to 5 pounds and when restarted 0 . giving it gas it goes up to 65 and more . i have owned the car from new . is my motor junk ? it has some noise in the lower end but not a hard knock . how do i test the pressure with a mechanical gauge ?

Getting to the OPSU is not easy -- it is behind the intake manifold on the driver side. Unless you have an oil cooler installed above your filter, that is the only place you can tap in a mechanical test gauge that I know of.

Like Jeff stated it's not the easiest thing to check. I'd just pull the OPSU, it is the most likely culprit.

I will add that I wouldn't run the car until you diagnose the problem. Having no oil pressure is a for sure way to destroy the motor quickly.

I was coming back to tell him to pull an oil sample to see for any bearing/metal particles.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Used LS1/6 swap or LQ4/9 swap isn't expensive. Especially if you do the swap yourself.
