    Oil pressure questions...

My coolant level drooped and I refilled. But now my oil is goi g up and down. It dropped below 40 a few times. What could be the prob? I thought normal pressure was 50-55. Now I'm getting worried. It went as high as 70 ish. This was during normal driving.

My coolant level resulted in high temperature. But that is now fixed.

No such thing as normal Pressure. Mine usually runs around 30-40 at idle,All depends on wear, the oil pump, the viscosity of the oil etc. Mine gets as low as 20 on the hottest day. Nothing to worry about. If your paranoid get a new sender and drop in a ls6 ported pump that has been shimmed. As long as its above 30 at cold idle I wouldnt worry about it honestly.

Pop off the intake and it should be easily reachable.

    10 psi per 1k rpm.

    What he said.
But no need to pull the intake -nothing is wrong. Change the oil if it is ready or u wanna feel like you're doing something.

Agreed. Oil pressure sending uning unit is fine. Replace that when you break it replacing your intake.

you musta had a bunch of sludge in there that will casuse sudden twitches in the guage, changing oil may help quite a bit. What weight of oil are you using?

mine usually never drops below 40 but on a cold start it will be up there round 75 at idle... never had a problem with not enough pressure...
