Oil Pressure Question

Hey guys, I am looking for some help.

I have a 2001 Z28. It is basically all stock. Motor has about 69K miles on it.

My oil pressure gauge is going crazy..Mostly at idle. The pressure is in the 40-60 range, but the needle is bouncing up and down like a crackhead having withdrawals!! A buddy of mine said it might be the oil pressure sending unit??

Anybody have any ideas or experienced this before? I dont want to have a mechanical failure or have the motor get trashed if this is a serious problem, but I would like to fix it myself if that is possible.

sounds like the sending unit, you can check and see if it looks deteriorated, mine just fell off...
