Pewter Metallic- 2000 SS Camaro Convertibl
Oil pressure jumps around allot since I made some hard pulls
Hello, I have a 2000 SS Camaro with a stock ls1. I made 3 hard passes with it the other day (30 mph to 100, got the rpms around 5.5k each time) and now it seems like my oil pressure is high when I rev the engine. On a cold start the oil pressure sits at 60 and when I get the rpms around 2500 it's up to 70 and over 3k I'm around 75-77. It gets better as the engine warms but it didn't seem to be nearly this high before. Even when the engine gets to temp the oil pressure remains high for about 15 minutes then it sits around 40 at idle but jumps up to 55-60 at 3000 rpms.
Anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

sounds normal.
What oil weight are you using?

Royal Purple full syn 5w 30. I was using the castrol full syn 5w 30 that came with the car before.

honestly the oil should "jump" around some. As it warms up the viscosity changes and "thins out". As long as you are not dropping below 40 psi at idle or more importantly under a load (above idle rpms) you should be ok.

no problem but make sure you still pay attention to the pressure. If it drops immediately turn off the car. Check the OPSU first, they are easy to break. Located behind the intake on the drivers side.
