my 02 t/a has that sensor on pass. side of oil pan. I know b/c when my a4 was rebuilt they broke it and i had a low oil light before a class, that i subsequently missed, and ........well before i start cussing...you understand. After all the missed ever-so-important-class-why-is-my-low-oil-light-on-w/normal-dipstick-drama was over i found the CUT wire leads with ELECTRICAL TAPE around them sensor problem...on pass. side.

and to answer your original question...no technical knowledge to back this up but in the time between realizing why i had a low oil light and getting the sensor fixed i experienced no other consequences aside from the light.
