Oriental Blue- 2001 Trans Am WS.6 M6
Oil leak
so i just got my new trans am about a week ago, its a 2001 WS.6 M6, with 74000 miles. ive had it about a week now ive been noticing a few drops of oil here and there. i got up under the car and there was oil EVERYWHERE...does anybody know what i might check first? i changed the oil and put a new filter on it, hoping the seal on the filter may have been bad but it still leeking, i went to pepboys and they gave me a bottle of dye to put in the tank and said i could check it with a black light to see where its coming from, any suggestions? any commom fbody problems?

I would clean it and see if you can tell where it's coming from. Is it wet up front too or just in the back? Is it side specific?

well my oil was very low but i changed it about a week ago, i noticed my oil pressure went way higher than i ever noticed before after i changed it to, like 65 or 70(psi?) but only while accelerating it seemed to jump up there

just got up under the car again and looked and there was a drop on the front left and front right bolt on the oil pan...also something i hadnt noticed before, there was a large amount of oil around the starter back were that sheild thing is in between the oil pan and tranny...my dad said oil pan gasket or rear main seal...what do you think, ive got a few pictures and ill load them up as soon as possible

if there's a ton of oil in the back and not much up front I'd lean towards a rear main unless the front seal is leaking and it's letting it run down the pan or something. I forget what kinda lip the pan has on it and if it would let it do that.

well i can definately see that it is running down the pan, so i guess its possible that it is collecting at the starter, however there was a lot back in that nook...

like I say, it's starting to sound like a rear main but I would clean it all up under there and drive it a little bit and see if you can tell where the fresh oil is.

it appears that it is also coming off the bottom where the clutch is through that little opening
