Oil cooler gasket leak

does anyone know what are the torque specs for the oil cooler gasket/bolts?

i have an oil leak coming from there and i'm going to be replacing that gasket this week.

I do not know. Usually it is in nanometers. Usually, it is hand tight depending on the connectors(brass, aluminum, plastic). Are the fittings compression fittings?

Usually hand tight and then 1/2 a turn or so.

i'll make sure to do that thursday when the gasket gets here.

45 ft. lbs. is the number I got from the local GM dealership.

Should probably use teflon tape as well.

well i went ahead and changed it today and after i put new oil in the car i left the car up in the jack. no oil leak. after about 3-5 minutes i put the car back down and started to get a leak.

so now im lost as to where the leak can be coming from. i don't think its the rear main seal since it didn't leak while the car was up in the jack. only leaked as the car was flat on the floor.

the other day i checked the OPSU and it seemed to be dry.

So the oil leak is coming from around the rear of the engine? There is a writeup of a blockoff area above the oil filter that has a tendency to leak.

Also, is the cooler factory, or aftermarket? If it's aftermarket, does the adapter mount where the oil filter originally goes? The adapter could be loose or leaking from that area. What car anyway?

thats the gasket that I changed today. the port right above the oil filter. it is the stock one.

a few minutes ago i went to double check the OPSU and it was indeed a little wet now. i think thats the going to be the culprit and I guess it makes sense that it would leak when the car was flat on the floor as oppose to being up. also kind of makes sense that the oil leak is kinda big.

i will be replacing it with an aftermarket gauge/sending unit and the autometer adapter.

i was going to do this tomorrow but due to getting rain it will have to wait till sunday/monday.

i'll keep updating this post as i change it out.

OK. Yeah. The oil pressure sending units have a tendency to separate between the plastic and metal nut. Happened to me last year. Mine would bubble oil out between the plastic and metal while driving.

yea that's exactly how it felt like right now. its not broken but seem to have separated between the plastic and the metal nut. did yours separate on its own or were you doing something near it that caused it?

Did it on its own. I don't know if it was a defect or the result of engine heat.

got it all fixed up. aftermarket sending unit didn't fit. it hit the back on the intake. so i just use the autometer's adapter with ha bolt in the middle and it's all good now. no more nasty leak. As for my oil pressure gauge i put one of those sandwich adapters on the oil filter.
