Oil cap won't come off
I just bought my car a couple months ago and it has been sitting for a month now for winter. I haven't taken the oil cap off yet. The other day I went to go drive it, and checked the oil, I needed to add some. But I cannot get the oil cap off. I have cranked on it with channelocks. I don't know if you have to push down on them to unscrew it but I've done that and it doesn't work either. It won't come off when the engine is hot or cold.
Has anyone had this problem?
How do I fix it?

Black- 99 WS.6 - Modified
Welcome to the site. I've never experienced that issue before. Odd that it would be that tough, considering that it's in contact with oil. I would remove the valve cover, that way you would have easier access to work on it, plus you wouldn't have to worry about anything falling into the head.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Black/ Silver- 98 TA WS6/ 01 C5 Corvette
I had this problem at one point and I put a towel around the cap and then put a wrench around the grip. I was able to get it loose enough to unthread it after that. I haven't had any issues since. The problem with mine is it was cranked down and possibly cross threaded. On reinstall I made sure it was threaded correctly and not cranked on.

I'm thinking cross-threaded as well...or the rubber gasket in the cap swelled in the valve cover.

Wow, I never heard of that happening. I would remove the valve cover just to be safe. Order a new cap when you get the old one off. I think it's the gasket. JMO

So you're saying it doesn't even turn? I've had mine turn and come loose before, but wouldn't come off even loose. I had to play with it awhile for it to come off. If it doesn't even turn, I agree with the threads being cross-threaded. However, that seems like it would be very difficult to do considering how course the threads are on the cap and there's only like 3 threads.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

Is it even the cap that is supposed to be on there? Maybe someone put a different one in?

^^^ That is a definite possibility with what is going on with the OP's car. I know for sure my cap is OEM as I bought my car new.
