You are loosing spark somewhere... Get new plugs and wires, and hope that fixes it !

could also be fueling related. Would be nice if you could log the car and see what's going on. Do you still have your stock maf laying around? Try putting that back on and see what happens. Check for vacuum leaks also.

I am with^^^^ Plugs usually cause a misfire not a pop... You sound lean which can be FP or MAF.....

Is it popping through the intake or out the exhaust? As stated above a misfire and backfire are caused by different things.

You are passing raw gasoline through the exhaust valve, and it is igniting with the hot exhaust.

I had a damaged reluctor ring on my new build... Fireballs 5 feet behind the car from the open headers !!! Sounded like an elephant cannon going off... At high RPM's, it would kill 4 coils... Took a while to figure that out...

I was thinking....the last backfiring car I messed with was a buddies vette and his ended up being a dead O2.

Could be anything, so I'd start out with the plugs and wires. Going to need them anyways !
HP Tuners would be nice for the scanner and logging... Nice to see what it's doing...
