    new tune, bad milage

    I just had a tune done and now I realize I only get about 215 miles to a full tank of 93 octane gas. I know you pay to play and the car is much faster but damn, that's about 80 miles gone from a full tank. I know he adjusted the air/fuel ratios and made the timing more aggressive but does this sound right?
    2002 Camaro SS/M6. Volant CAI, 80mm TB w/spacer, cat delete w/ ory, borla XR-1 w/ cme, custom tune, 3.73's, 8,000k HID headlights and foglights, 19" staggered ruff 278 wheels.

    If these^^^ are your only mods, then yes your gas mileage should be better.

    Yah. That's what I am thinking too. I know when I first bought my car, before tune, I was going through a tank every 3-4 days. After the tune, the most I got was 279 miles out of one tank. And that was a weeks worth of daily driving out in the Poconos. City driving here in NJ, I get around 220-230 out of a tank. I shift at 2-3k in the city and 4-5k on the highway.

    As soon as you felt the new power added, your foot might have gotten heavier for a while too !!! LOL !!!
    I'd think it would get better mileage on a normal cruise. ( if no rice burners pull up beside you )

    this was what I was thinking. It becomes almost a subconscious thing....you just get into it a little more and over the course of a tank it'll add up. Figure when you're into it your mileage is in the single digits.

    These vehicles are set from the factory with a lean A/F ratio (14:1 +), in order to help meet the federal regulations for MPG and avoid a guzzler tax.

    Your tuner probably set the A/F ratio to what it should have been in the first place (13.2 to 13.5:1)

    You are giving up MPG, however you are extending the life of your engine (IMHO).

    Thanks for the input guys. I'm gonna try to baby the shit out of it and see what I can get for mpg. I drive about 50 to 80 miles a day and I notice I shift around 3,500rpm's after I had my exhaust because thats the sweet spot, maybe that has something to do with it. It's hard to have one of these cars and not hit the loud pedal. Thanks again guys

    never heard of that, what is it? I had a friend that owns speed gangsters tune my car with a laptop, I'm not sure whats better

    Oh wow. I like that dual stage setup. Now I am remembering the C4 ZR-1 with the A and B keys. One mild...one NASTY. I'd like to see some vids of that setup in some C6s. Nothin like a modern Vette with the brain of a C4 ZR-1.

    Are the tunes from frost really that good? I always read other peoples threads about his tuning, I just thought you could do more with software on a laptop. I don't know anything about the tuning aspect of the car, that's why I'm asking

    I have HP Tuners on my lap top, but, there's so much... I have a radical build and just can't seem to get it 100% ... I plan on having frost dyno tune mine, then I can just tweak the rest of the tune. I don't think a mail tune would be right for me, but a bolt on car would be fine.
