Black- 1998 Firebird Formula
Need some help guys!?
Hey guys I have two questions if you guys can help me, first question is I was what would be the best option for me as to getting a tune on the car?
I have a 98 firebird formula automatic with:
-slp lid
-slp smooth bellow
-k&n filter
-mac mid legnth headers
-3inch exhaust all the way back
-No cats
-off road cutout
-msd wires
-Mickey Thompson street slicks
with what I have is it better to pay 400+ for a tune from a shop or is it better to do the mail order tune from Frost?
Keep in mind the throttle response on this car is really slow 0-60
Now question number 2 should I do an EGR delete and get rid of it all and cap the lines off the headers or just leave it all hooked up what's the benifit to disconecting it or keeping it on?
I would really appreciate your help guys as a newbie lol

Unless you have done something like heads/cams or forced induction. I would think a tune by frost is your best bet.
Only reason to remove the EGR is to clean out clutter in the engine bay. Personally i'd say leave it alone. If the time comes that your state starts making you pass an inspections you'll just have to add cats and be good to go. You start removing EGR and your car might end up parked for a while.

I am always one for a full custom tune. But doesn't mean frost cant get you damn close to where a full custom tune would be.
Just tuning the auto transmission to me is worth the money alone.
Its up to you on the emissions, you are not losing power by having them and you would not gain anything by taking them off, but i always remove everything to clean up the engine bay, and to prevent problems.

With the mods you list, Frost would be the way to go.

Seeing the light mods a mail order would be good. Once things get more complicated then I would suggest a local tuner.

I vote for Frost also. He worked his magic on my car and the results are great. No problems!

You just have basic bolt ons so Frost can get you were you should be. If you do More mods in the future you could see a benefit by a custom tune BUT that also depends on the actual tuner. There are MANY out there tuning cars that actually have No clue other than a few basics. Just because you get a increase Doesn't mean it is Anywhere near it's full potential.
With that extra money do yourself and your car a favor and buy some subframe connectors and a pair of V-6 springs from the bone yard.
My 2 cents take it or leave it!Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

Yeah I also have an automatic and I have basic bolt on mods. I have Borla exhaust, free ram air mod, air lid, PCV mod, UMI LCA's and panhard, LS6 intake, TR55's plugs, racetronix fuel pump with harness, oil catch can.
I sent my PCM to Frost and I'm very happy with the results. he delete the AIR/EGR stuff and retuned the PCM. The main improvement I notcied was the shift points in the AT. He has great costumer service too. FROST is the way to go
