    1st of all, pics?

if what i thnk, there is a plastic cap over the nut. pry up on it carefully, from the round edge... then it hinges at the wiper arm, you must swing it up, then work it down and out to get it off. this will reveal the nut. although you might not have to remove the swing cap to get the nut off.

That is how you get the arm off....... If you have the nut off already, then you just have to pry it, or work it till it comes free....
