Need help removing center taillight panel decals!!
Hi! We have just bought some decals to replace our firebird/trans am decal in the back of the TA and we have to actually take the old decals off first....the original one...thats faded....so anyways....we need help on a good clean way to get these off....I've heard to use rubbing compound then to use a polishing glaze....but for one...the rubbing compound says not to use on plastic....and well that little panel is definitely plastic...and I do not know what they mean by "polishing glaze" ....the people at autozone said wax? then they showed me that Mothers Back to Black stuff which I just don't like in general..... so I really want to get these new decals on they are white and will look awesome but want to do this right and not ruin anything....so please any help would be greatly appreciated! thanx!

Being that panel is plastic, you would be better off just peeling them off by hand in my opinion.

Those are not decals on the rear center panel they are painted on.
The best way to remove them is to sand them off and then use a plastic polish to buff the panel back to it's original luster.Craig

BLACK- 1998 WS6, ASC BUILD #206
ALL rear center panel emblems I've ever seen are decals, not paint.
I just purchased new replacement decals for mine. The TRANS AM letters and the bird.
Also, all I've seen from the factory have been red in color.
Regardless, my friend that works in a body shop tells me they now use a rubber wheel in a drill moter to remove old decals and pin strips without causing damage to the plastic or paint.
I'll find out in the next couple weeks when we rework mine.
I'll post an update about it.This T/A WS6 is Factory modified by ASC at the Lachine facility on March 13, 1998 and is identified to be
ASC build #206.
We took delivery from Pontiac dealer April 7th, 1998.
ASC Factory letter provided from them.
Love of money is the root of all evil.
Send $19.95 for more information.

If thay are a decal there are several products out there to remove decals such as PB blaster decal remover, Goo Gone, or check with a local paint supplier or body shop for what thay use... If the decal is just faded and not torn or parts missing then just go over top with new decal, use soapy water get it lined up and use a hair drier then smooth with a clean lint free cloth...soapy water will allow you to move it and get it lined up and will not affect the glue..be gental and take your time
