need help with my car!!!
its a 2003 mazda protege totally stock and it is not idling. whenever its not driving(stop sign or parked) it revs from 1k down to 100 and then back up. just cant seem to keep a constant idle and seems as though its going to stall. what could be the problem? any wire issues or what?

Sounds like the MAF...is it throwing a code? You can usually return stuff to autozone without a prob...buy one and see if it solves the prob. Usually I don't condone shotgun troubleshooting...but it is probably the maf. Did you try to clean it lately...spray some electrical or carb cleaner in the maf before you buy a new one, don't touch the little filiments though. Does it search for a idle when it's in drive too?

Not too familiar with mazdas but check the IAC(idle air control) valve...more people will chime in on sunday with advice, saturday night isn't too busy
Your motor needs a certain amount of air to bypass the blades in the throttle body in order to maintain an idle....try taking it out of the TB and cleaning it...sometimes they get a lot of carbon build up...good luck

it went to the dealer tonight. starting to think its not a vacuum leak because its seems to be a common problem. most people are resetting their ecu's and it worked, mine didnt.
thanks for your help guys.
