    Need Help with Arcing?!

I have a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am because it was having a really bad idle problem, stumbling when accelerating. I took it to a shop and they told me it was due to arcing on the coils, 2 coils are bad and they need to be replaced. THey quoted me $957! Is this the right diagnosis and could i do this job myself? I really dont have a grand to pay for this to get fixed.

Coils are pretty expensive. You can do it yourself but its still gonna be over $500 to buy all 8 coils.

I'm on the outside looking in really and am not there so take this for what it's worth. I'm not sure if I've EVER heard of anyone having LS1 coils go bad. That don't mean it doesn't happen, I just haven't run across it.
Coils are very very easy to do. You could easily do this by yourself. Get a second opinion before you do anything and don't tell them what the first shop said when you drop it off. Act like they're the first to look at it.
