    1998 trans am

    need help with 98 trans am not starting

    i bought my daughter a 98 trans am few months back,car has ls1,had sat for awhile before we got it, trans was blown up.
    i have since put new trans in. car runs great when running problem i am having now getting power to lights and acc. buit ignition wont turn over ,click or anything,i had to put new battery,alternator in previously all were working fine,i have checked fuses all are good, noticed a relay under hood is ther anyway to check that or do u just have to replace? not very familiar with the newer computer cars,any help appreciated.

    no security light on, thinking maybe the neutral safety switch?

    There are 2 of those, one for the brake & clutch for M6 and one for A4's (break)


    Not hard to replace and very common to break. Most ppl notice it when their cruise control quits working.


    It is usually not the switch itself that breaks but the mounting tab.

    A quick fix is use a couple of long zip ties to secure it in place. Cut the excess off. I did this 3 yrs ago and it is still working.


    I just hope you can perform yoga because you need to contort yourself pretty good to get to it.

    hers is automatic, was told its on top of trans under console gonna find out tommorrow
