Need to add oil to new ac compressor, how many onces?
I have just replaced the ac compressor on my 99 trans for the second time, if the unit have no oil in it I was told to add 9 ounces, I didn't see a sticker saying that it had any in it, plus I tilted it and a few drops can out, what do you guys think and how much should I add? Wanted to add some so that I could get it to a shop about a mile away, I can do just about any thing to my ta but for some reason AC charging is not my cup of tea.I was told that I can add the oil on the low side hose located up top going to the drier.

Somewhere there is probably a chart that tells you how much oil to add for each component in the system when it is replaced. We just swapped the compressor in my dad's Honda Ridgeline and that called for 3 ounces. 9 ounces sounds like a lot... I may have the oil spec in my service manual, but am flying out this morning and will not be back until Tuesday.

There should be a decal under the hood with the oil and refrigerant fill capacities. I just looked at an AC system website and it appears that 9 ounces is the total capacity. You are probably safe with around a 3 ounce fill on the compressor.
