is my tach wrong?
I have a 2000 ta and when it gets to normal temp the tach reads around 400rpms. Although it seems like the engine is around 7to800rpm. Stays the same through the rpm range it all seems too low for the sound. For example I can run 5th gear at 1k rpms and no bogging

Need more info. 1k in 5th wont bog the engine down. What speed are you going in 5th at 1k rpm? But 400 rpm is low.

I second those responses, stock tachs are off by a bit, you should get a shift light. What gears do you have in your car, I'll check to see what speed I'm doing in my TA at 1000rpm's in 5th and we'll see how far off they are if at all that should give you an answer if your gauge is way out or not.

My tach is off too, it reads 300 rpm too high at idle. I think it stays about the same amount off at high rpm's too. Anyone know of a fix for this? Other than buying an aftermarket one.

really easy fix. just remove everything to the cluster like your going to install some wht face guages and pull the tach needle off and set it back like 3mm-6mm ( depends how far its off). leave cluster lens off while doing this soo you can make adjustements to the needle.
note---- there is a special needle popper for this that comes with 1pc guage kits but with a flipped flat head with a notch in the middle will do just fine or even better

that is one thing you can do but I think the best thing a guy should do is install a shift light
