My 2000 Z28 Story
Hi, I'm new to this forum and just bought my first Camaro yesterday. It's a 2000 Z28 with 164,000 miles. Yes it's alot and i bought it for 3400. I'm in love and hopefully it lasts me a few years.
Things I plan on doing 1st
-fix rear hatch (motor goes but doesn't pop up)
- get rust out from under car (not looking forward to this)
- clean up the engine bay a little
-new paint job (more down the line and i want to keep the same color)
Here's some pictures of the car how I bought it...

Any input, tips or just general advice would be very appreciated as I am generally new at this.
Thanks everyone for looking!

The rear hatch is an easy fix. Pop the interior trim panel and add a helper spring as shown in the pic. You can also mount the spring piggyback over the stock spring -- either will work and it is an easy, hardware store, kind of fix.

Car doesnt look that bad on the underside. I would say drive it, fix the little things and you should have a solid car for a few years if you take care of it.

Jeff beat me to it. Once you install that helper spring, you'll never have to push the button twice again!!

When you get to modding it, here is a list of pretty popular mods:
- Subframe connectors, also known as SFC's
- Long tube headers, also known as LT's
- Air lid, any mfg is good...most go with SLP (one of the few good things from SLP)
- Exhaust...Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa, SLP LM
- Lower control arms (LCA's)
- Lower control arm relocation brackets
- If it's an auto, a stall with a tranny cooler
- If it's a stick, a short throw aftermarket shifter with solid stops
Keep us posted on your progress!

A $20 headlight cleaning kit or a good wet seanding & polishing makes a world of difference to the overall appearance. Congrats on the buy and good luck with it!

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
+1 on the headlights. I think that would really change the front appearance.
For the trunk, there's some rubber adjusters on each side that move up and down that can be tweaked up alittle if you don't have a spring handy right away.

Hey guys. I took a look at the rear motor today and found the motor housing was cracked. I think gluing it back might do more damage. What do you guys think?

If it's just an interior-colored piece, then go for it.

Time for a new one, bud. Glue won't hold that.
