08 Mustang GT/CS Blue- 2002 Trans Am WS6 traded
More probs after tranny rebuild...
More frustrations...I had my tranny rebuilt about 6 weeks ago, and when i picked it up it made a loud rapid clanging sound when cranking it up. I turned it off and on twice to confirm what i'd heard and went right back in the place. Long story short, they haven't figured it out; the pontiac dealer diagnosed bad starter. tranny shop paid for starter to be rebuilt, put it back on and no change. Car cranks fine, and noise is obviously only present when starter is engaged. They are going to pull the tranny wednesday and inspect flywheel...anyone have any other thoughts/insight into this problem??? Also, day after starter was worked on, I crank the car in the morning and get a 'low oil' light. Check oil; quart low; i fill it up. Light stayed on all day; so that night i reset the computer and the light didn't return until the middle of the next day. Where is the oil level sensor??? Possibly unplugged or damaged when starter was being removed??? Thanks guys! So sick of constant problems!!!

ok...got under the car and sure enough they pulled the wires loose from the oil level sensor when pulling my starter..then used electrical tape as a cure...so they got a phone call... They (hopefully not the same tech) are pulling my trans to look at the flywheel tomorrow...I'm hoping that you guys on here that know much more than i do have some ideas as to whether or not this starting noise is likely my flywheel or something else????

You didn't bring it to AAMCO did you? They have a rep for shit rebuilds.
Does the noise only happen when cranking?

NO AAMCO! Heard way too many things both on here and actually at the bar i work at. Yes, only makes noise when actually cranking; idles and runs fine with no noise. They looked at it today and said the flywheel and starter both have no signs of wear. It was suggested that maybe a solenoid was making the noise...
