    More Power or More Traction?

Ok guys i have a lot of plans for this summer. Yes i'm aware that its october, but i plan things out in advance so i can find the best prices. I'm getting LT headers so then i will be almost full bolt-ons. So figure 350rwhp in a 6spd car w/ 3.42 gears. I will also have sfc, panhard. I have stock rims right now with 245/50/16 bfg kdws all season. Help me decide what i should do.

So once i have my LT's its a toss up. More Traction or More Power?

Then i can get either a cam or rims/tires. Not both at the same time. So should i get rims/tires. It would probably be 275/40/17 nitto 555 up front and then 315/35/17 nitto 555R DR's out back. Or a cam? The cam would be like a 228 with a 114 LSA - so like 380rwhp. How bad would a bolton cammed car spin on 245 street tires? What do u guys think will be faster? Full bolton car that can hook, or a full-bolt on cammed car than spins? I'd say the one that can hook. I race both from a dig, a roll, and the track.

    Thanks for your input.

TRACTION deff, especially since you have 245's now, id look into gettin a wide set of rims and tires for the back and some 275's for the front, then with your headers and probably a cam you will have plenty of traction

look at front and rear sway bars, get a STB (strut tower brace) if you dont already have one, it makes a huge difference

traction/suspension first. whats the point of adding power when you won't be able to feel and experience it to it's full potiental w/no suspension and/or traction...? more of a waste than anything else.

I couldn't keep traction with stock power on 245's!

The more suspension/traction the better. Thats what I wish I did, get all the LCA's w/ relocate, PHR, SFC's, shocks and springs. And then have fun with the power imo.

I figure lay down the ground work for more power that the rest of the car will be up to the task of handling. Your car will be faster with good suspension also. Especially once you stop doing burnouts when you don't want to you'll actually be going some where fast. I'm planning on doing everything other than engine mods and go with a low comp 402 to put a D1SC on in the future. Now just to get the money.

More traction! If you are spinning you are not winning. With little old 245 street tires, a full-bolt on cammed car is gonna spin the hell out of em!!!

On second thought , that is always fun. Till you have to buy new tires. But 245's are cheap! Screw it power!!!!!!!!!!

Fix the suspension. If nothing else it will drive better.

    Disagreed. Waste of $$.
    I felt no difference.

I voted suspension/traction. My car is no fun without a good tire on it. If I put a street tire on it the car gets scary because it spins through anywhere in 3rd gear. Doesn't just bark them into 4th...breaks them loose.
    LCA's with relocation brackets
Subframe connectors (my vote for the first mod to do to any F-Body)
    Good tire

STB makes a noticeable difference when cornering-not at the drags strip. We've had this discussion before-in my car I can tell the difference. It's worth the effort apparently to get the 3 point bar-that's what I've got and it's made a noticeable difference when cornering.

I think there's another lost cause of a thread on the stb thing, but if it doesn't work you just don't have a big enough one. The extreme BMR made a difference on mine. Who cares if it doesn't produce time on a auto cross course or a track, but they do feel good on the street. You don't really need sex either, but it sure does feel good and is fun!

I had the subframe connectors on mine before I did the STB.
I felt a huge difference when getting the SFC's on and NO difference when I put the STB on.
Maybe it has to do with order of mods.

I had SFC's before the STB and felt a difference. I have Hotchkiss SFC's and maybe they are not as strong as the ones you have. They are only 2 point vs 3 of others so maybe that could do it.

My SFC's are the 3 points as well.
    They did great.

It was the STB that I couldn't feel anything with.
