might have an issue could use some help
2002 a4 with around 58k miles on it now. I've been feeling and hearing some weird things when I accelerate. Happens when I start giving it more gas. Its sound like a slight thunk/pop and I can feel it in the gas pedal through the car I guess. I think its come either from under or behind me. When I accelerate it feels like the car is shivering, and it does feel like it normally does but a bit laggy. Any ideas mighty masters of the ls1?

Check your motor and tranny mounts to see if they are worn or torn... Sounds like its time for a head/cam swap and upgraded tranny (ok excuses)lol

I agree with mark21742. If those check ok could also be a t/c problem or driveshaft issue though not as likely.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

My first guess would be motor mounts and trans mount.
I wouldnt rule out a bad plug either.

Sorry about the odd description but I don't know how else to explain it. It happens when I give it gas at speed and sometimes from a stop. No pinging if u guys are talking about a noise. It sounds kinda like thunks/pops and I can feel it through the gas pedal

And it doesn't feel like something is hitting under it. It feels like something in the mechancs. Either from the rear end or maybe transmission cause it feels like its slipping in the shifts

I checked the trans fluid it was pink but the dipstick was a little dirty and there was more fluid than there should be. Is that a problem?

Too much fluid is just as bad as too little fluid. Did you let it warm up to Op temp befor checking the fluid level?
I would lean towards Tranny mount or U Joint in at the rear..
Might wanna jack it up and take a look.

hard part is getting under the car to check this stuff. i neither have a decent lift, nor a good place to do all this checking other than the street. i wish it would just throw a code to save me hassle but its really annoying

+1 for the tranny mount. Sucks you don't have a jack though, just go pick one up. $69 or so at your local parts store.

Well if it is bad enough your drive shaft is not aligned properly and your u-joints are having additional / akward stress put on them.
Also if it is bad enough the drive shaft could be grinding/touching the factory safetly loop (its not aloop but it serves the same purpose )
