No need it flows more than what you can push through it. Get a lid or port the throttle body.

Just leave it alone, not worth the hassle and probelms afterwards.

As stated, leave the stock MAF alone -- it is good to up around 500 h.p. Modifying the MAF by porting, deblading or descreening alters its airflow characterisitcs and throws off fueling. The MAF works by maintaining a tiny wire at a certain temperature. Air flowing over the wire cools it and the PCM can then sense the airflow by measuring how much electricity is required to heat the wire. Aftermarket MAF's are also a bad idea on our cars unless you take the time to log its flow characterisitcs and reprogram the PCM's MAF table to match. Per the literature, an aftermarket MAF can alter fueling by as much as 13%, and it usually leans out the engine. Real world example, our car came with a hacked up ported MAF -- and an off idle stumble. Swapped out the MAF and the problem was fixed. If you want to do something beneficial for your MAF, pick up a can of MAF spray cleaner and use it. This is especially true if you utilize an oiled cotton gauze type air filter (ie. K&N). Deposits on the wire insulate it and throw off its readings.
