LSX 454 ci
I have a 383ci ls1 with a fast 90/90. 1 3/4 edolbrock longtubes. Thinking of buying a 454lsx crate in the near future for it. How would this install be compared to installing another ls1? What would I need to upgrade besides the fuel system? Transmisson rearend and suspension be not apply.

Personally, I would upgrade the headers to TSP 1 7/8's, and you can either have your current Fast 90 ported out or step up to the new Fast 92 and have it ported. As to the install, as long as the new motor doesnt use the newer ls2-up sensor locations it should be a pretty straightforward swap.

Yeah, shouldn't be any different than installing your 383. For headers, I'd go with Kooks or American Racing 1 7/8. But TSP might be good also, haven't heard much about those..

Would I be able to use my fast 90 unported and my headers or are they at their limits?

Yeah, you can use all of the equipment you have right now, im just saying to get every bit of horsepower out of that setup that I would upgrade. Do you happen to know what heads will be on that crate motor?

No idea, right now. May get an ms3 or ms4, port the 90/90, trickflow 215cc head, and call it a day. Not sure which route i'am going to go yet. What is the max ci you can go on the 215cc heads? Also, I have lpe 2.02's on right now. I know by going with 215cc heads I will gain more highend horsepower.
Is my engine better with the smaller heads for torque, or is bigger heads always better? I don't build engines, not quite sure how it works :-(

With that size of motor, I would go with a set of the Trick flow 235's. On the cam, I would definately go custom, it only costs $20 more and you will be alot happier in the end.

On a 454CI, I would go even larger then 235's. 215's will be much too small. If your spending the money on a LSX block and big cubes, call an engine builder ( HKE ) and get a setup that will work. Custom cam for sure.
Edit : What block are you referring to? Link to what engine your referring to?

The 383. What kind of numbers would it run with 215cc heads and a ms3/ms4 cam?
