Ls6 intake and TB
Hi, I'm new to forum idk if I'm on the right place. I have 98 z28 it's all stock on motor and I'm triyin to do some upgrades but I have questios first. What is it better 70mm ported throttle body or a 80 mm throttle body for stock motor? And also I'm triyin to install a ls6 intake manifold but since it's a 98 I was told that I have to cancel the egr system and of course if I do that I will not pass smogg emissions no more (California). So any ideas plz? I wish some can answer my questions thanks.

it all depends what you want to do with the car in the future, but since your in cali im guessing you cant do much. As far as the ls6 goes you can put it on and still pass emmissions.

You'll have no problem at all with a SLP modified LS6 intake, also the BBK SSI intake has provisions for the EGR tube also so it shouldn't be a problem either. UD crank pulley, and Electric water pump will also free up some power, and go ahead and get a SLP air lid also .

in cali you need the egr system if it originally came on the car. so slp ls6 with egr, or make egr hole yourself.

So if I get the ls6 intake which it does not come with the EGR hole. I can make a hole my self to the ls6 n keep the egr?
Unfurnutatly in Cali you can't do do to much to the engine cuz the emissions.
Ant what bout the thottle body? Thanks

You can have the tb ported, shaner throttle bodies is well known. I would not recommend you put in your own hole in a ls-6 manifold, either buy one used or from slp if staying smog legal is a top priority.

Our throttle bodies are 78mm whichever of the two you go is fine just remember the inlet to our intake manifolds is 78mm.
I think the price went up on there manifolds sheezus, you can skip the coolant bypass installation they have included with he kit I will explain later if you decide on the manifold.

Geez that price is ridiculous. I was going to recommend NOT cutting the whole yourself but $624 is not cool at all.
You should be able to find a used one from $250 - $400 easy.
I don't think the car will run right if the egr does not seal well so drilling/cutting the whole perfectly is going to be a big deal.

The thing is that your not just cutting a hole. You need a way to secure the EGR pipe to the intake. SLP uses a different egr fitting then the OEM LS1 fitting. Plus that intake comes with the intake and TB gaskets and the water crossover pipes and plugs.

Didn't know it comes with all that. I think the gaskets are $50+ at the dealer and I'm pretty sure I paid atleast $60 for the cross over pipes. So with that information the SLP one is really the best way to go IMHO..

Get the BBK , you can bolt up to a 85mm TB, the EGR bolts right up, and you can keep your current coolant tubes, also you can get one new for $400.
