LS1 sump /oilpan gasket question
I am new to the LS1 motor and have just bought my first one for a conversion. A silly question.. I notice the oilpan gasket is attached by what looks like two rivets. Are they rivets and is there anything special about them? Do new ones come with a new gasket? Thanks for your help Spin.

Do your self a favor and replace the gasket now, and replace it with a felpro gasket. Be careful not to over-torque the nuts holding the pan. Carefully set them to factory specs with a torque wrench.

I believe the rivets are to hold the gasket in place when installed at the factory. It's not necessary to put them back in.
