    1999 LS1 swap 1981 Corvet

    LS1 Mod to distributor timing

I am researching a project I want to start. Last year I blew the motor in my boat and want to replace it.
Here is the project, I have a 350 sb chev from my "81"corvette and a LS1 5.7 from my "99" corvette . I was thinking of installing the LS1 into the boat. Mostly because the power to weight ratio will bring my baby alive. Now I want to mod the LS1 to distributor timing with a 650 holly and manifold. ( in a perfect world I would like to take the cam and intake manifold out of the 350 and put on the LS1 )

    What's you guys think?????http://www.ls1.com/forums/images/smilies/shots.gif

    Nice idea!
You can definitely carb and distributorize a LS1 engine. That info is out there on the web somewhere. You can also use a carb and keep the 8 individual ignition coils with a MSD box. Its up to you.
The SBC cam and intake won't fit the LS1 by the way.

Talking LS1 Mod to distributor timing

Thanks; this is what I have found so far.

Edelbrock 2908 Victor Jr. has a perfect set up. A high rise carburated intake manifold mated with an MSD control module. The control module uses MAD and the crank and cam sensors to tune the engine. It also has 6 different timing curves for different cam profiles. Nice.

The next part of my research is marine exhaust manifolds for the LS1.

I'm sure the marine exhaust manifolds are out there. I think there are some Malibu and MasterCraft ski/wakeboard boats with LS engines.
