    LS1 Fuel system

Anyone have a link or information to an accurate description of the 2002 Z28 fuel system?

The complete system operation, from the tank to the injectors.

I'm still a little unclear on exactly what you're looking for but I'll tell you what I know.

The pcm feeds the fuel pump relay which feeds the pump (there's also a fuel pump fuse). The pump is just like most late model GM's as it's a "module" and has the pump, level sender, and pressure regulator all in one unit in the tank. This feeds the fuel rail which then feed the injectors. The LS1's fuel pressure at the rail at idle is ~58psi. The level sender goes to the pcm which then feeds the cluster. I would have to look it up but I'm pretty sure your 02 has 26.6lb injectors. Not really sure what else you might be looking for but if you'd post up a little more detailed info I'm sure someone here could give you a hand. The only literature I have on the fuel system are just schematics out of a haynes manual.

Here are some of my questions, right after the fuel pump there is a tee. Fuel filter feeds one end, the other end goes to the engine, the center of the tee goes back to the tank. Is the tee really a regulator, or is there a regulator somewhere else? Between the fuel rails there is a part that looks like an accumulator or regulator of some kind. I think the fuel line goes to it and it feeds the rails. It does not look "replaceable." What it is? What regulates the fuel pressure at the rails?

That is the regulator. It is replaceable, I believe there is a metal retaining ring around it, take that off and it should come uot of there. ps, make sure you depressurize the system first with a rag or something and depress the shrader valve at the end of the rail.

that's called a pulse dampener or surge regulator. The actual pressure regulator is in the tank and that controls fuel pressure at the rails.

you're not entirely wrong....on the 97-98 vettes that was a regulator.

So it is an accumulator. So how is the fuel pressure regulated? Or, a better question would be: How does the regulator in the tank work?
