    LS1 engine in 95' GMC sierra 1500

    Hi everyone,

Im new to this site and still learning my way around. My dad and i are looking to put an all aluminum LS1 engine in my 95 GMC truck. We're looking for some sort of guidance from someone who knows either how to do this or has done it before. We want to know how much of a struggle it is to either buy or build motor mounts really anything that we need to make this happen.

    Thanks all,
    Tyler

what engine is currently in the truck? 4.3 or 350?

What transmission you currently have or plan on getting?

Some componets you'll need. PCM and wire harness. If you can get it with the engine, great makes tuning easier. Aftermarket makes engine mounts for almost any combo. So not as difficult as it may seem.

Some other options of blocks - 5.3, LQ4/9's all of these are truck blocks and are a little cheaper then LS1's unless you already have the LS1.

I have a 350 motor in it right now with M50 transmission. We would like to be able to buy the LS1 with all components so we dont have to go searching and buying all other parts from different places.

That transmission will not work with the GEN III's blocks.

If in your shoes I would look for a LQ9 with a 4L60E transmission that comes with the PCM and wire harness. You won't be disappointed and it will come in cheaper then getting a LS1 block.

Some other things that will need to look at is the transmission cross-member and drive shaft.

I use this site to look for long blocks, I found several long blocks for around $2300

In regards to LS1's The average cost for long blocks were around $3000, I would look at a crate engine for that.
