LS1 Check Valves rusting, DTC code P1614 &1615

Had to change both check valves (Bank 1 & 2) a few times. Car is not a daily driver. Rust shows in valve. Cleaned tube but suspect that not driving daily allows rust to form in exhaust manifold and tube. Easy to replace but not sure if any cure other than drive more. Had to sit in garage the last 3 years due to having new hip and 2 new knees replaced. No big deal but just deal with it. Any suggestions ? Thanks

Are the codes P1415 and P1416? I think you may have typed them wrong. It has been known that casting flash in exhaust manifold may restrict the amount of airflow necessary to affect H02S voltage. Use an OBD2 scan tool to perform scans on banks 1 and 2. During the scan, if the PCM determines that H02S voltage for both banks doesn't respond as expected during the test, DTC P0410 will be set. IF only one sensor responded, PCM will set either a DTC P1415 or P1416 to indicate on which bank air system is inoperative. If bank one or left front voltage drops to less than 350mV, there may be some flash in the exhaust manifold that is causing a restriction. Make sure all hoses and pipes are connected and clamps are secure. Check for heat-damaged components. Using your scan tool, Select DTC, Clear Info function. Start and warm engine to normal operating temps, Select DTC, Specific, then enter the code number and operate the vehicle within conditions for setting the DTC. If the scan tool indicates that this test ran and passed, then you are good, if not then it'll indicate which bank is faulty and then you take steps to replace that part.

OE part # 25312196 for the left side, 25312197 for the right side. Book time for this is 1.9 but ask for 1.4 as they will already have a diag time of 1.0 hours.

The tech will also use a multimeter to determine if the sensors are within range of acceptable levels. if the o2 sensor goes below 222mV for 1.2 seconds or more, it isn't within range.

Hope this helps. Always remember to ask for lower times from dealerships, just like when you go to purchase a new car, you can negotiate labor prices as well.

Good luck, please let me know how it goes.
