lq series engine
im an 18yr old kid and i need a cheaper motor for my 240sx (its to show a few eclipse's a real motor and car) so to the point, i have researched and have seen an lq is a strong engine and the ls1 is lighter. but the lq is carb and i have no clue on how to work with that and if that makes the swap harder or easier.
so pros and cons for each engine please? im also in need of advice on how to swap.

who told you that the LQ series blocks have to be carb??? there are many people on here running them and most are fuel injected...
pros: LQ iron block is stronger...
cons: LQ iron block weighs a bit more...

a swap to a carbed lq block would be easier due to the fact that you dont have to mess with the fuel injection but the f/I would be more worth your while seeing as though its less finicky and alot easier to work with IMO

I've been in the 240 game for a while now. I currently have a 5.3 punched to 5.7 iron block turbo ls motor in my 240. Best advice is go to silviav8forums.com they have all the swap info and will answer any questions. Basic lq motor is A LOT cheaper vs ls1, average 2k$ cheaper just as a long block. U will need a gto front sump oil pan, and either custom ur crossmember like I did and fab ur own motor mounts and tranny mounts or there is kits out there u can buy as a bolt in. Just all in how much $$$ u want to spend. Imo carb is the way to go, SO much cleaner and easier to work on + tune. But again all in preference. I have a blow thru carb on mine. I also have a build thread with a lot of pics. Good luck

another idea... i bought my LS6 crate (complete engine minus the pullys) for $3,200 or $3,400 ( i can't remember anymore)... you'd still need the PCM and wireing (probably can snag from a junk yard)...
