    Low oil?

I was just driving around normally and when i glanced at my dash, i noticed "low oil" light come up. I just changed the oil, like 2 months ago and used mobile1 5K so its good for another 3k miles. I am having problems with my cats, but i doubt that has anything to do w/ it. Im letting it cool off right now, and am gonna go check the oil level in about an hour. It came on before a few months back, but after i got the oil changed it went away. Any1??

I believe you are thinking of the "change oil" light Jaison. The "low oil" light usually comes on when you are 2 quarts low.

Definately check your oil level and keep an eye on it. If it is low, you probably have a oil leak somewhere and need to find it obviously.

Or your just burning it, you might not have a leak, my moms 05 monte carlo goes through 1quart every 1000miles, she has no leaks, and it doesnt smell like its burning oil, no smoke out the exhaust nothing, it just eats oil.

My car eats oil also. I have to add atleast a quart in between oil changes.

most ls1's use a little oil from what i've heard. thats normal. but you dont need to let your oil change go for near that long. especially on that overpriced ''clean 5000''

well i checked the dipstick and i needed to about 1.5-2 quarts. I have absolutley no idea wuts wrong. The car is in fantastic shape as far as the engine/motor goes. No leaks or anything. I think im gonna put it on a lift tommorow and sheck everything from top to bottom. I know LS1's burn oil, my frinds SS and WS6's burn a lil oil but not that much. Especailly considering i just changed the oil not even 2k miles ago.

I used Mobil 1 when I first got the car and mine did this too. Low oil light would come on and I'd have to add a quart or so. I switched to Redline 10W30 and this never happened again. Mobil one is a really thin 30 weight and I think it just gets more blow by. I'm using German Castrol now and haven't seen that light either.

My trans am burned oil like yours, i actually had the same light come on and thought it was an oil leak. I fixed it though by replacing the PCV valve. You should try that, its only a 2 dollar part.

+1 on the PCV. My car burned a little less oil when I put the new one in.
