They go bad all the time, GM finally took them off our cars in '00? You can take it out and try cleaning it, replace it, or just unplug it to keep the light off. It's located in the radiator a few inches below the fill cap. Make sure it's not actually low, open the radiator cap when cold and check the level.

Just like 2001nbmz28 said, its probly just the sensor, you can try and remove it and clean it but chances are its shot. Common failure.

My low coolant light has been on for about 5 years. Coolant level is fine. I've replaced the sensor once and the light came on again after a year or 2. Just check your coolant regularly and you will be fine.

If you don't smell coolant, then it's the sensor.

Maybe a goofy (?) but does your overflow rez have "goop" starting to form @ the end of the dipstick? Reason I ask, is sometimes as coolant begins to age it can get sediment from whatever (aluminum oxidization, steel/iron rust etc, etc). This "goop" will settle @ the bottom of the rez sometimes and plug up the return/overflow tube from the rad to the rez.. Sometimes, what happens is, coolant can flow out of the rad and into the rez under pressure.. BUT can't flow freely back when the engine needs it.. Best way to tell is after the engine is harmed up but not driven yet, pull the rez dipstick and see what the reading is.. If the engine is harmed up but the dipstick reads, "full cold" there maybe a blockage issue as well as a rad cap issue.. Just my .02

Oh yeah, it could be something as simple as a piece of the little seal under the coolant bottlecap that has gotten into the pickup hose.. You can disconnect the rez and flush it pretty easily too..

I herd something about fake temp gauges in the 99 trans am. Keep thinking its gonna overheat on me and I won't be able to tell. Then again I'm prolly just paranoid. But yea I had it flushed and the lights still on. Hope I figure this out soon.

+! for the sensor. If it is full and the temp is always good.
The sensor is pretty cheap, I'm for replacing it and keeping it like I bought it.
You can just un-plug it and forget about it though.
