knock or tick down from bottom end

okay i have this noticable tick/knock coming from the engine. at first i thought maybe a bent pushrod, broken valvespring or rocker. well i took the valve covers off and checked everything out, all looked good. so i put everything back on and the noise was still there. so i took it to a local shop and had them lift it up and listen around. its not an exhaust leak they checked with a stethascope(spelling?). you can hear the tick/knock all the time but its really noticable when the car was lifted and you stand directly under the engine or when the car is like in a drive thru with walls on both sides.

the local shop wasn't able to give you any clue as to what's causing it? If it's low in the motor I would guess a spun bearing but it could be a few things before I would just go with that by a description on here. Could be a bolt backed off in the flywheel or something like that too.

Just as orion said could be a flywheel bolt. Is it 6spd or auto?

no the shop couldnt help much it was a buddy of mines shop who does exhaust and simple bolt on stuff. so if it is a spun bearing does that meen the engine is toast? what would cause it to happen? Im gonna try to seafoam it to see if its a sticky lifter, i dont think it is though it sounds like its coming more from the bottom of the car, it sounds just like an exhaust leak only theres no leak and its doesnt have that air swoosh sound just a tick/knock sound.

also the car has a weird vibration when its warming up, you can mainly feel it in the brake and gas pedal, not the clutch. oh and you can also feel it kinda kick/rumble wright as you start it up and as it shuts off.

with it being a 6 spd it could be the pilot bushing. Does the sound change when you push the clutch in?

I don't think it does but I'm not at home with the car so I can't check. I was listening to it this morning and it definitly ticks/knocks with the engine rpm.would the pilot bushing do that?

okay guys i got a mechanics stethascope and listened around. the only place i really heard anything tick was in the passenger side valve train so im gonna pull the valve cover off AGAIN and check it out. hopefully a rocker just loosened up or somthing.

ok so i have the valve cover off the passenger side, the side i heard the tick on and everything seems ok. no loose rockers, well are they suppose to move from side to side a little bit??(some do and some dont ) wat else should i be checking besides pushrods i checked them already?? could this be because the first time i took the rockers off i got them mixed up and didnt put them back exactly where they came from? IM GETTING HELLA FRUSTERATED WITH THIS CRAP!!!!! please
