    Knock Sensors

On the 98 LS1 I have heard that the knock sensors are overly sensitive. I was going to put on a ls6 intake. Can I just order the 99 Ls1 knock sensors and just plug them in or do i need to change the wire harness as well?

If I recall they interchange electrically but I'm unsure if the PCM needs to be reprogrammed to understand them.

Here's a suggestion that works well, we've often had to use it when putting headers on any GM vehicle.

Wrap your existing sensors, it de-sensitizes them.

We've used Dynamat + duct tape, we've used that paint on liquid tape but found the best to be that self-vulcanizing silicone tape that's used for high voltage electrical connections.

It's made by Scotch and even Home Depot carries it as will any electrical supply house. It's very thick. The 3M version is Type 70, and Radio Shack also sells it in small rolls under the part number 64-2336 as a coax seal.

Chances are you should spring for a full roll at Home Depot (or wherever) so you'll have enough, it's also handy for other times when you need to make a good waterproof seal.

the early 98 knock sensors were sensitive. they were updated mid year. then, in 1999 they were completely changed. to swap to the 99 knock sensors, you will also need the knock sensor wiring harness.
