Key sticks in ignition

Ok so I've noticed lately that my key is getting stuck in the ignition when I turn the engine off and I can't figure out why. I don't know if it's cause the gears didn't shift all the way or what. It's only on occasion that it does this but I have a feeling it'll only get worse. Any advice would be great.

Try a different key. Yours may be worn out and not engaging the cylinder correctly. Also could be a worn ignition cylinder.

That's what I was thinking but it does it with both sets of keys. I did notice that when it finally lets me take the key out I hear a ping noise like a spring so maybe it's not in park all the way idk. I just hope it's an easy cheap fix after just spending $750 for new tops and weather stripping.

Yah, there is an auto trans park lock cable from the shifter to the steering column and only allows you to turn the key all the way back and out when the shifter is in park. You could try wiggling the shifter next time it happens to see if that helps remove the key. If that what it is, you may need to adjust the shift cable (between the shifter and trans) so that the shifter goes all the way into park properly. Or you may need to remove the center console and look at the shifter and clean and lube up the shift lock mechanism.
