    Just a stupidity check.

Service Engine = Service Engine Soon, ya?

I mean.. when I start my car, there's one that says "Service Engine," but not "Service Engine Soon."

    >.> I feel stupid.

there are two lights, one that the top by the security light and another by the temp gauge. I have only seen the second one once for a very short time. The servie engine soon light comes on when there are codes being thrown, that one is most common. That is about all i can tell you.

The other one I believe is "check gauges". See that when I forget to fill up.

I agree with that. On the SS's, and I'm guessing it's the same on the TA's, there are two lights: Service engine soon (which is an amber color) and a check gauges (which is red). Service engine light indicates the computer has determined there is something wrong and you can have the car scanned to pull the OBDII code. Check gauges is just that, gauge related I believe. I know when I have run low on fuel, the check gauges light comes on. I would assume it comes on also if a temp gage, battery voltage, or oil pressure fell outside the normal operating range. Maybe not though.

I'm pretty sure there's a "check engine" light on top of "service engine soon" and check gauges". I'm just too lazy to go look right now.

If you have service engine soon lights in your dash coming on its cause your car is throwing a code/s find someone who has a scanner and get the diagnostic trouble code #'s then look them up to see what part of the engine is not working properly.

My car has "CHECK GAGES" light = If the light comes on and stays on while driving, check your gages to see if they are in the warning areas.

Like some have said before, if I let the gas get too low it comes on, but goes off as soon as the gage starts moving while filling up.

My Car has "SERVICE VECHICLE" light= The light will stay on steady if you have certain non-emission related vehicle problems. These problems may not be obvious and may affect vechicle performance or durability. Consult your (stealership. It won't be obvious to them either and they can take a lot of your hard earned money)

My Car has "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light Canada version is a pic of a motor= Blah Blah Blah it works off the OBD II.

If the light flashes, you had a misfire.

If the light is steady, you have problem in emmission.

    Hope this helps

    Just a quick question.
Where can I go to have the diagnostic codes checked that is inexpensive?
I know going to the dealer will cost me big bucks.

    Thanks in advance.
