    Installed Gears what a difference!!

I finally installed my gears I went from 2:73;s to 3:42's what a freaking difference that made A lot of people here say to buy a Torque converter well I say install gears I installed a Yankk SS3200 pretty good but with my geras installed this car is totally different It pulls hard and the gears are extremely quiet I love it... My thoughts would be that headerrs y pipe exhaust and gears would be the best upgrade for our cars The TC is nice but it does change the drivebality a bit and in my case a nightmare to tune right It's still not tune right I have to go get it dyno tuned Monday now!!!!!!!! The mail order was good but I still have a shatter that I can't get rid off through a mail order. Dave at Yank Told me what it was in tuning so my tuner guy will be sure to look at his recommendation. Yank is an amazing company to deal with great service and Dave is extremely helpfull He goes over and above the call of duty in my case anyway. He sent me a 2nd converter in case it was that but it wasn't It was all in the tuning.....

good deal. i have a trans rebuild and a converter getting installed, should be done tuesday. i have 3.23 rear. i have no idea what to expect. i would think with a 2.73 gear it would feel sloppy, most who has a stall say the lower the gears the tighter it feels, and most recommend either 3.73 or 4.10.

It was sloppy with the 2;73's but feels great with thne 3:42's and with my loud exhaust 2500rpm on the hgwy is great but 3;73;s would of been great as well not 4:10's for an auto it would be way to low of a gear
Life is too short not to maximise it.

You have 3.23s in your GTO or an F-body? GTOs come with 3.46s I believe......ALL of them. Now the Lumina SS in earlier years did have the 3.08s or 3.07s or what have you in the middle east.

I have 3.73s up from 2.73s and yeah....its .5 of a second with JUST that change. A converter would be nice too!

Very cool I wonder what it will do with 3:42;s I was at 13.29 at 104.2mph with a terrible 60 foot I'm hoping 12.9 at 107mph I hope that is my goal anyway loll The converter took a while for me to like and I'm still not sure to be honest!!!! Great pass by the way that is nice any mods done to hit a 13 sec pass

My car has just mid headers on it but any power they give over stockers (not much, maybe 10 hp at best) is negated by the shitty ass mid pipes put on it and the FlowMaster isnt doing jack for it either. lol It has the SLP intake, K&N filter, smooth bellow, and 10mm wires. So yeah, a few little things but nothing major. Corrected it was a 12.89 @ 108.3 or something like that. Plus, that was on 32 psi in the rears.

The thing is with the 2.73s you can hammer it out of the hole, with the 3.73s I have to really babby i and only come out at about 1k rpms. Over that and it would just spin.

Gears do make a big difference. I am hoping for a 12.8 pass with good air, better track prep, and and air pressure adjustment.

Believe it or not what your best rear gear ratio selection will be has alot to do with how tall a tire your planning on running.
If your gonna run 26" tall tire run a 3.73 ratio is great and if your planning on running 28" tall tires then 4.11 ratio is better. When I bought my 12 bolt it came with 4.11s and the camaro would shift to OD before the 1/4 mile mark. So I changed to taller tires. You car must be all stock running a SS3200. Dave can get you hooked up for sure. Get a set of MTDRs and see what a good 60 ft time will do for your times.
TSP 347 SB, TSP Stage 2.5 PRC LS6, TSP MS4, Performabuilt Stage 2 4L60E, Yank PT4000, 4.11s, Fast 90/90, FTRA Cold air intake+all the free mods, Dynatech Supermaxx Exaust System, DMH Cutouts, Hooker Catback/FTRA Tips. Tuned by RPM/Garner NC. 11.28@119

Just bought a set todat MT 17X26X11 for $125 bucks new the guy totalled his car before he could install them I have 316.54 hp to the wheels with 2:73's it was 325 hp weird but the car is way faster now with the new gears The dyno tune was great but I have to admit that Frost mail order was good to at 311 at the wheels I went for the shift points mainly but I did get an extra 14hp and same in ft lbs torque and it shifts where I want it now!!!!

I upgraded from 3:23's to 3:73's , and to a Yank Y3000 TC. I should have gone more aggressive to a 3600 stall, however this combination (with stock motor) is a kick to drive.
