Inexpensive catalytic converter?
Looking for a decent, inexpensive catalytic converter to hold me off until I'm able to buy headers and go all-out on the exhaust. Does anyone have any recommendations? I just got quoted $549 for converter/install and that is entirely too much for something I'm going to end up replacing within the next year or two.

Unless you have California or New York emissions, you should be able to get a good replacement from Rock Auto or other aftermarket between $150 and $200 depending on the side you need (they are specific right or left). I recommend using Walker as a direct substitute as their parts meet all OEM specs and fit like they should. If you need California or New York emissions you will pay just at $300 each. This is a pretty easy bolt in job as long as you don't break any bolts (use a good penetrating oil and let it sit for a while before turning a wrench if you see any rust at all on the studs). You will need to be extra careful with the O2 sensor as they tend to be hard to remove. I would avoid getting penetrating oil anywhere near the the sensor as it can ruin it.

Why not just remove them all-together?
