Ign Tumbler Replacement Vats
Read about everything I could find on the vats issues.
Cleaned, re-clean, had new keys made. All 4 keys worked in series, then 20 mins later no luck again .
So, how do you replace the ign tumbler. I could not find a how to in my searches.
Can I just by one at Autozone, or do I need to do something special, matched set from the dealer?.
I looked at some bypass diagrams, to make life easier for the time being. It looks like you just disconnect the plug and stick the resistor into the Vats side..is that right?. Not sure how it works if the wires are cut completely. But maybe it does. The Diagram and the under dash pic on shoebox, seam to be saying something different. I am confused.
Any help would be great.
1. how to replace the tumbler
2. do I need to buy the tumbler from the dealer and another new key to match.
3. Help me understand the bypass question I have above.
Thanks

I'm confused. I'm not familiar with the vats thing
so is your ign switch messed up or something?
You can get a tumbler from just about anywhere. It should come with a key... unless you have a sentry key, which you'll have to go to the dealership for

Basically, you measure the resistance of the pellet in your key then buy resistors to match. I cut my wires on the column side of the plug then soldered 2 resistors in a series together then soldered those to the plug and plugged it back in. Piece of cake to do.
