    idle problems

hey guys, so i just installed a new bbk intake manifold and throttle body on my trans am and when i tried starting it it started up fine but instantly revved up to about 3000 rpm then dropped to about 500 and stalled out, i have tried cleaning the maf sensor but im not sure what else i could check. ive been told it could be a vacuum leak, but does it typically keep running at a high rpm or is my case the typical symptoms of a vacuum leak? any help would be appreciated

Definitely sounds like a vacuum leak. First check all of the external connections. Often it is a simple hose that has either slipped off or got cracked open when you were moving things. Next I'd go around to all of the bolts and recheck them for torque. If you missed one or two it could just be that the manifold has not seated. If not, then you may have to pull the intake and check to see if the gasket has slipped somewhere. Check the simple stuff first then work to the harder stuff. Good luck!

well i already pulled it off once because it was doing the same thing so i thought i would see if i saw anything wrong, but the gaskets were fine so i tried putting it on a little more carefully, but ill try to look for a vacuum leak, thanks for your help

get rid of that intake and go with a LS6/acufab intake/throttle body combo.

i had the same thing happing to me, i installed a NX 85 mm throttle body with 75to 85 mm spacer plate , my car reved at 1,500 rpm and wouldnt come down no matter what i did, i think a good tunner could have adjusted my IAC motor counts to get the car to idel correct.

mine is different though cuz it revs up right away and then either stumbles at about 4-500 rpm or it just dies, and i still havent found any vacuum leaks but ill keep looking
