I need some input on a motor

HI i havent posted on here much but am always on haha. I just need some inputs maybe personal experience storys about a motor choice. I have a 98 T/A that had an LS1 in it and about 150k on the clock, well the rod went out the side of the block and now i need to replace it seeing how it was my DD. I was lookin to possibly get another LS1 or an LS6 for it but dont am also strapped for cash :\. What do you think a good setup would be for it and prices? I am a college student and know quite a bit about cars but dont have to much time to get into it right now. Thanks looking forward to your advice. Oh it is also a 4 speed auto with a brand new tranny in it.

just replace it with another LS1, that would be the cheapest route, since everything will fit right.

that was my first thought for a quick cheap replacement, seen the long blocks go for as little as $1,500

You can use any 1998-2003 LS long block. 4.8-6.0

I remember reading somewhere that the 99 6.0 iron blocks had a slightly different crank and you couldn't use the same flywheel/ flex plate....but don't take my word on this
