I have a HUGE problem!!! HELP!!!
I got home from work and decided to start my car after a 5 day nap. I turned the key, and it felt like the car jumped, but it didn't start. I tried again and it would just click so I figured it was the starter. I went out 5 min. later and it starts up, but now it's making this terrible knocking noise, and it just gets louder and faster with higher rpm's. So one by one I take off each injector, but that did not solve the problem (I figured maybe a stuck injector...?).
Here's what else I think it might be:
1.) Maybe one of my coil packs isn't working, and I'm getting no spark on a certain cylinder, causing it to knock...(haven't got to check that yet)
2.) My starter gear is like halfway engaged and causing the terrible noise.
3.) Worse case scenario....I spun a rod bearing!!!!!!?????
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks!

could be in the clutch... mine lost a spring and it was getting stuck in there as well as making a hell of a noise. that would explain the car lunging forward...

between the clutch and flywheel. it would rattle when it wasnt stuck, and would hold the clutch engaged when it was stuck...

well, you should be able to narrow down the noise easily enough. Does it sound like it's coming from the engine itself or a little further back? Does is sound like someone is hitting the block with a hammer or different?

I took it out for like a 20 minute drive and I'm 99.9% positive it's something with the clutch/ flyheel. When I push in the clutch pedal (at a stop), the noise magnifies and I can feel it vibrate the hell out of my foot. And when I'm shifting, the rpm's jump up and the noise gets louder. It feels like the clutch is only halfway engaging. Could I have chipped or broken the flywheel or clutch disk? I guess it's time for a new clutch, slave, and master cylinder
I've done a clutch before, but it was in a truck, so there was a lot more room.; And I did it in a gravel driveway, so I'm gonna try and look for a garage!

Thanks. I took my car home this weekend and had the valve covers off to see if maybe I bent a pushrod or had a broken or loose rocker, but I still couldn't pinpoint the noise. I called my friends dad (who's a mechanic) and within like 10 seconds he said it was the clutch..."Probably a spring on the clutch disk," were his exact words. I shoulda stuck with my first guess, but at least now I know my valvetrain is in good shape!!! lol
I guess I'm gonna try and swap it out in the nxt 2 weeks. Thanks for all the help, and I'm gonna try and do a picture write up on it as well.
