I have a 1995 V6 Camaro... And I have a Question...
Okay so i am looking right now on "www*sdpc2000*com" and i'm looking for a New Engine, everyone talks about the LS1 and what not, but i see on the site here ... >
"www*sdpc2000*com/catalog/123/products/92829/1997-98-Chevrolet-Y-LS157G.htm"
But it just says 1997-98, and i am assuming that means it can only fit in those years... and then the only engine's i see are LT1's... which i haven't heard a lot about them, because i have just started looking and all i hear is LS1 this, and LS1 that... But are they comparable... or can i fit an LS1 into my Camaro...? here is the LT1 i was looking at, it was One of Two that i saw that would fit in a 1995
"www*sdpc2000*com/catalog/123/products/92907/1995-Chevrolet-F-LT157P.htm"
but i would really aprecaite the feedback if anyone could give it to me!!
Thank you,
Rocco
(wont let me put links yet, so i added it with *'s lol

you have got a v-6 platform and in my opinion you are better off investing in a v-8 setup for example a z-28 or ss. The lt1 came in the z-28 and ss from 93 to 97, then in 98 they upgraded to the ls1. Big difference in performance, i have a 97 z28 with a lt1 and a 01 ss and there is a big difference in the ls1. the lt1 seems to be more bottom end stout but the ls1 has more top end. But if you were to go with the upgrade you would have to find a donor car for sus, comp, wiring, eng, trans, and whatever else you might need.
Goodluck if you decide to tackle

Truthfully it is not worth it.
If you want an LS1 camaro, buy an LS1 camaro. By the time you finish installing one in your V6 you could have easily spent more than $5,000...and you are still driving a V6 car, so if you wreck it, chances are you won't see a dime more than what the V6 car was originally worth. The insurance difference between an LS1 and a V6 car is not that big either...when you weigh out the options, trading in the V6 is a better idea.

Agreed,if you want an LS1 powered car-trade in the V-6 car and buy one. I say this because that's what I did. I had a 98 V-6 5 speed positrack car,it was a blast, very fun car. After 4 years I decided it was time to step up bought a 02 Z-28, and I never looked back. The LS1 engine will be like your present car on serious steroids. You have to realize you will have to change alot of things to do the swap right,as stated ,that will be expensive. The spring rates are going to be different also,so there is suspension, transmission, electronics, cooling system, etc. etc. Find a different car,it'll make more sense in the long run.

What if you have a LT1? will it be worth the swap to an Ls1 or would a LT4 conversion be better? I have heard that the lt4 is a ls1 killer! Never seen one in action though

LT4 is about 100 pounds heavier. Not a LS1 killer, better than the LT1. Forget the swap-buy a different car.

I've never seen a race between an LT4 and an LS1. The way I look at it-invest in the latest greatest, leave the LT stuff to fade away.
