I am considering this Camaro..your thoughts
Found a black 2002 6 speed z28 asking price 17,300
it has 13,300 miles
"2002 CHEVROLET CAMARO Z28, Hurst 6 spd, black/gray, t-tops, 4:10 POSI, headers, Master Flow, chip, mass air, garage kept and covered, adult owner, 13k mi, $17,300 obo"
I am going to see it in person this weekend, if it is a clean car, what do you think I should offer? I am thinking 16500 to 16800 is my best offer.

NBM / Silver- 00 SS / 71 SS Elcamino
Sound like a good offer. I paid $14,000 for my 2000 SS 8 months ago completely stock with 35,000 miles.
The one you are looking at sounds nice with some mods to boot as well as low miles. I would rather own a SS but that one sounds good. Good luck when you get itLast edited by Jays00ss; 07-31-2007 at 08:33 PM.

I was looking for an SS and stumbled on this car with really low miles, so I am going to at least check it out in person.
I am going to try and check out an 01 SS with 43k miles with some upgraded wheels, monsoon stereo for $16500 obo also.
I want an SS, but the 13k miles is hard to ignore.

Black- 2002 Formula Firehawk
i would try 16k. 17k is a little too high i think. I got my 00z28 with 10k miles for $14k two years ago.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2001 Camaro Z28 M6 T-Top
The Blue Book value for that car (I didn't add leather) for your zip code is:
$13,370 for excellent condition
$12,575 for good
$11,525 for fair
If you are financing it, the bank will not give you more than Blue Book for the car, so you better talk him down.
And his modifications aren't adding $4,000 to the overall value, if anything, they hurt the retail price.

Thats funny, In Denvers market the car is worth close to 15,600 for a private party sale according to KBB. Add the SS package and you are close to 19,000 for a private party sale. The mods he has listed will run around 1.5-2k. So up to you? I would double check your local KBB or NADA, take into concideration the mods done(since you will more than likely have them done anyway) and show the seller the KBB or Nada value and then negotiate.
I would still look for a SS they will always bring more money, An average of 2,500-3,000 more.
The low miles are nice, but it's still a Z-28 (nothing against z's) but they are alot more common and just arn't worth the same as their SS brothers.
In the end it's up to you, Settle for a z-28 or take your time, negotiate and get the car you really want.
Take it from me who settled many times before, It sucks looking at others cars and thinking I should have waited. I bought a 2002 firebird v-6 with 9,000 miles in pewter. Very nice car but what was I thinking?Last edited by Jays00ss; 07-31-2007 at 08:05 AM.

That's one of the biggest issues - where the buyer lives. When I was about to buy my car, I asked people what they thought, and I'd get some guy in Backwater, Alabama telling me he bought a 2002 SS M6 with 12,000 miles for 10 grand. Sure, he may have paid that, but depending on the market, it may be impossible to find a similar vehicle.
I paid $13,500 for my car with 50,000 miles on it. Sure, I could find one cheaper, but it would have 80,000+ miles on it.
Homestead, FL looks to be a less expensive market. I couldn't touch a 2000 SS with 12,000 miles for 13 grand out here.

yes, but someone who has headers and 4.10 gears probably raced the car. So, it could've been a very hard 13k.
Make sure when you test drive the car you listen for strange/ loud noises from the rear end. 4.10's with a M6 is hard on the rear end - the guy could be trying to hide the fact that the rear is almost shot.

There's no "chip" for that car either. I'd keep looking.
