How to tell if you need general maintenance
Ok, so my car is getting up there in age and mileage so I want to be responsible and keep up with the maintenance. I'm not a mechanic by any means unfortunately so I need some advice. How can you tell if you need new spark plugs and wires? Also, how can you tell if you need new shocks and springs? And finally, the type of tranny fluid to use is Dexron III ATF correct?

Yes Dexron is the the stuff to use, the number really doesn't matter aslong as its Dexron.
As for plugs and wire thats kinda guess work with out pulling them out and having a look?
Are you the first owner? how many miles? How well has regular maintenance been done? That all plays a factor. How well is the car running?

If you've got a manual transmission, you might want to invest in a nice synthetic transmission fluid (like B&M Trick Shift). Other than that, I'd recommend just following the normal maintenance schedule in the manual.

i'm the second owner and its got 66,000 miles. its in pretty good condition but just doesnt feel as good as it probably should plus the fact that i'm just paranoid. I heard synthetic trans fluid isnt good, so i've been planning on using the dexron all along. anyone got any tips on seeing if you should replace shocks and springs?
